Tracey Arm

June 8

We left the float at 0730 and set our course for Tracy Arm in Holkham Bay.  Rumor has it that if you can't make it to Glacier Bay, this is the next best thing.

On the way we were treated to many humpback whale sightings, including two complete out of the water breaches!  We entered the Bay and cruised past a small house sized iceberg and watched as it "calved" about 1/3 of itself.  The original berg flipped completely over and made quite a splash.

We had to pick our way through.

We departed Tracy Arm and headed to Taku Harbor and took a spot on the float. We got a good nights rest, got up and made it to Juneau this morning at 1030.

Tomorrow we head to Hoonah, a native Tlingit village of about 900 people with fuel, stores and more. We hope to start the process to try and get a permit to enter Glacier Bay.  Wish us luck.

Till next time.....
