The beginning

Welcome to the first entry of what I hope will be an interesting and enjoyable accounting of an amazing journey.

It all gets started this April in Anacortes, Washington. From there it is north to Alaska, south to Mexico, across (via truck) to Galveston,Texas, on to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, around Florida to Cuba, the Bahamas and up the east coast with the journey ending in Annapolis, Maryland.

Our method of travel will be an Aspen C120, which is nearing completion at the Aspen factory in Burlington, Washington.

More about the boat and it's systems later.

This journey is not a race.  There are sights to see and people to meet and we plan to enjoy both as we travel along.

The we in this journey include myself and the boat owners, David Jenkins and his wife Sue Ellen (also my in-laws).  We will be joined along the way for various segments by my wife Pat, members of the Aspen team, various journalists, manufacturers representatives and other friends and family.

A little about me. My name is Blake Eder, licensed by the USCG and owner of Bristol Boat Delivery, LLC.

I am based out of North Carolina and to date all of my delivery work has been on the Eastern Seaboard, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. The last time I was on the Pacific Ocean was on board the USS Haleakala AE 25 out of San Francisco, many moons ago. Needless to say I am looking forward to visiting the left coast again and experiencing all that the area has to offer.

My goal for this blog is simple: Document the journey.

I am a boater and a skipper who likes to wet a line in pursuit of the tasty treats offered to us by the sea.
Photography and prose are just hobbies. I will attempt to do both in this blog and hope that it is entertaining and educational.

Postings will be sporadic. We will be traveling in some remote areas and our schedule is fluid.

I invite you to come along.
