NOLA and beyond

A little from NOLA.

New Canal Lighthouse on Lake Pontchartrain

Mardi Gras Fountain.  Surrounded by plaques of the different Krewes.
Below are some of my favorites

Always a party on Bourbon Street

Even Andrew Jackson wears beads in New Orleans

Shady Lady (sister Joni)

Shady Couple (Brother Brian & our buddy Marguerite)

My Bead Guy.

Not a lot of boating photos because I did not do any boating in NOLA. Larry Graff (Aspen) and Bill Pike (Power & Motoryacht Magazine) brought Knot Wafflen' in from Galveston and David and Sue Ellen and guests took her to Clearwater Yacht Club. I congratulate David & Sue Ellen on their 1st solo off shore voyage.

I joined them at the Treasure Island YC and we have been moving slowly down the Gulf Coast of Florida with stops in Sarasota, Punta Gorda and now we are tied up at the Naples Yacht Club.
Next week David and I take off for Key West and, if the weather is good, a side trip to Dry Tortugas.

Till next time........

Been a while....

Mexico is just a fond memory now. I left the Knot Wafflen' in the capable hands of Larry Graf and his crew in San Carlos. They moved the boat a few miles down the coast to Guaymas where she was hauled.

They had the job of removing the fly bridge, putting it and the boat on a truck, getting it through Customs into the US, on to Galveston, put back together, back in the water and on to New Orleans.

Not a small feat.

On the journey from Galveston to New Orleans, Larry Graff had the company of Captain Bill Pike, Senior Editor of Power & Motoryacht Magazine. We are looking forward to an article soon.
Captain Bill spent time on the Mississippi and Gulf running oil field boats and as he wrote in a note to us describing the journey: "Nostalgic for me. So may places, so many memories."

The crew of Knot Wafflen' thanks you for your assistance and we hope to meet & perhaps sail with you soon.

In the end, the boat was waiting for me in Orleans Marina, where I flew in to spend a few days with family on the boat (thanks SE & DJ).

A little about NOLA on the next entry.

A few pics supplied by Aspen.
